Introducing Black Sheep Art!

Hi, we’re Meg and Sara—the two artists behind Black Sheep Art. We’ve both always loved creating, even if we took a slightly different path than the rest of our family. While they leaned toward numbers and logic, we found ourselves drawn to color, texture, and the quiet inspiration of nature.

We’re mostly self-taught, picking up skills along the way through classes, experimenting, and a lot of trial and error. Meg works primarily with acrylics, while Sara explores soft pastels, ink, and watercolor. We each create separately, but this little venture brings our work together in one place.

Here’s Meg on why she pursues art:

Painting, for me, is a quiet kind of escape. The moment I begin, the world softens at the edges and slips away, replaced by something brighter, lighter—full of color and a kind of easy joy. Time becomes irrelevant. The usual worries—the emails, the errands, the small, nagging concerns of the day—simply fall silent.

In that space, everything feels possible. It’s a gentler world, one without heaviness or discouragement, where even the simplest scenes carry a sense of calm and hope.

And I suppose that’s why my work looks the way it does. You won’t find much darkness there. Instead, there are bright colors, cheerful places, and moments of quiet beauty—the kind you might wish you could step into, if only for a little while.
